Description

The AV:Link 10m Toslink fibre optic cable transmits digital audio signals between devices fitted with optical audio ports, using Toslink connectors at both ends. The cable carries S/PDIF format audio — the same signal format used by soundbars, AV receivers, gaming consoles, DVD/Blu-ray players and TV optical outputs — over a flexible 2.2mm diameter fibre core.

Designed for runs where a standard 1-2m cable is too short, the 10m length allows connections across living rooms, from wall-mounted TVs to floor-standing AV equipment, or between rooms where routing through walls or under flooring is needed. Fibre optic transmission is immune to electromagnetic interference from mains cables or wireless signals, so the audio signal remains clean even when the cable runs alongside power leads or through cluttered equipment racks.

Gold-plated metal tips on both Toslink plugs reduce oxidation and maintain clean contact with the optical transceiver inside each device. The black PVC jacket is flexible enough to route around corners and behind furniture without kinking, and the 2.2mm profile allows the cable to fit through narrow cable management channels. The cable weighs 500g across its full 10m length, giving enough mass to avoid accidental disconnection from vertical ports while remaining light enough to handle during installation.

What devices use Toslink optical audio?

Soundbars, AV receivers, TVs with optical audio output, gaming consoles (PlayStation, Xbox), DVD/Blu-ray players, CD players and PC soundcards with S/PDIF optical ports. The cable works with any device that has a square Toslink optical socket.

Does the 10m length affect audio quality?

No. Digital optical cables transmit light pulses rather than electrical signals, so there is no signal degradation over 10m. The audio data arrives at the receiving device in exactly the same format it left the source.

Can this cable carry surround sound formats?

Yes, up to the bandwidth limit of the Toslink standard. The cable supports Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS 5.1 and stereo PCM. It does not support higher-bandwidth formats like Dolby Atmos or DTS:X, which require HDMI ARC/eARC connections.

Is the cable bidirectional?

Yes. Either end can be plugged into the source device or the receiving device — there is no 'input' or 'output' orientation to the cable.
