Description

The Auro is a linear pendant light built around a long ceiling bar in matt black steel, with small cylindrical shades hanging beneath it on fine cords, each set at its own height so the group falls in a loose, staggered line. It measures 130cm long and 12cm wide, with an overall height of 150cm. The light comes from integrated LEDs, so there are no bulbs to buy or change. At IP20 it is made for dry rooms indoors, which is exactly where a pendant like this belongs.

Hung over a long dining table or a kitchen island, the scattered shades draw the eye along the length of the surface and give the room a focal point even when the lights are low. The output is a gentle 120lm, so we see it as mood and accent lighting that sits alongside the room's other lights rather than replacing them. Because the colour temperature can be adjusted, you can set a warm glow for supper and a cooler, crisper white when you are working at the table. The colour-changing RGB setting adds a playful touch for parties and evenings when the room calls for something different.

The body is steel, finished in black, and the light is dimmable. A remote control comes in the box, and the light can also be run from an app, so brightness, colour temperature and colour can all be changed from your chair. There is no switch on the light itself, since it is switched at the wall, and as a light wired into the ceiling it should be installed by a qualified electrician. The installation instructions come as a PDF download. Packed, it weighs 8.2KG, so have a helper on hand when lifting it into place.
