Description

The Augustine is an 895mm traditional table lamp built around a caged urn-shaped base in antique brown metalwork with gold accents, topped with a cream linen bell shade. The base features an open-cage design in vertical straps that curve around an amber-toned glass orb at the centre, with applied gold rosettes banding the mid-section and a twisted rope detail at the foot. The lamp takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately), with the shade diffusing light into a soft ambient glow.

Designed for side tables, console tables and bedside use, the Augustine suits traditional, transitional and period-revival interiors where decorative table lamps anchor a room's lighting scheme. The 508mm diameter of the bell shade gives sufficient spread for reading light when paired with a 6-10W LED, while the 895mm overall height works on 700-750mm high side tables without overwhelming adjacent seating. The weighted hexagonal base provides stability on most surfaces.

The antique brown finish on the metalwork combines dark oxidised bronze tones with lighter gold highlights on the rosettes and rope detailing, giving the base a hand-finished appearance that pairs with warm wood furniture and rich fabric upholstery. The cream linen shade has a fine vertical texture that softens the light output and complements the brown-gold palette of the base without introducing strong colour contrast. The open-cage construction reduces visual mass while maintaining structural presence on a tabletop.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does it take?

The Augustine takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient or reading light.

How tall is it for bedside use?

The 895mm overall height works on standard 600-750mm bedside tables, positioning the shade at a comfortable level for reading in bed. The light sits approximately 200-300mm above the mattress when placed on a typical bedside.

Is the shade removable for bulb changing?

Yes. The bell shade lifts off the frame to access the E27 socket underneath. The shade is held in place by a finial that unscrews from the top of the lamp harp.

What finish is the base metalwork?

The base is finished in antique brown with contrasting gold accents on the rosettes, rope detailing and central orb. The brown has darker oxidised tones with lighter bronze highlights, giving a hand-aged appearance.
