Description

The Aubrey is a 31cm glass pendant light built around a hand-blown clear glass bowl with rippled surface detail, suspended from an antique brass frame on three slender support rods. A single E27 bulb fitting sits inside the bowl, with the rippled glass refracting light outwards to create soft, diffused illumination. The antique brass finish on the metalwork provides a warm, slightly aged patina that contrasts with the clarity of the glass.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and hallway positions with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher, the Aubrey works as both a standalone pendant and in multiples where a run of three pendants might illuminate a longer island or table. The drop is adjustable between 650mm and 1700mm on installation, allowing the pendant to be positioned 700-800mm above a dining surface or lower for a kitchen island depending on the ceiling height. The bowl diameter of 31cm suits tables and islands in the 1.2-1.8m range without overwhelming smaller spaces.

The rippled glass surface is formed during the blowing process, meaning each bowl shows slight variation in the depth and spacing of the ridges. When lit, these ripples cast moving shadows and refractions across nearby walls and ceilings, adding visual texture to ambient light. The antique brass framework uses three support rods that converge at a ceiling rose, with the chain concealing the cable run. The combined glass and brass construction gives the pendant a 2.4kg weight that provides stability on the chain without requiring additional ceiling reinforcement in most UK properties built after 1950.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable drop ranges from 650mm to 1700mm. For a dining table the pendant typically sits 700-800mm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the Aubrey if the chain is shortened during installation.

Can multiple pendants be grouped together?

Yes. Three Aubrey pendants spaced 600-800mm apart work well over a longer dining table or kitchen island in the 2-2.4m range. Each pendant requires a separate ceiling rose and wiring point.
