Description

The Astra 2 Light Cone Wall Light is a modern wall light with a clean conical shade in matt black. A slim L-shaped arm rises from a round wall plate to carry the shade. Inside the cone sit two G9 lamp holders, so a single shade gives the light of two lamps. The structure is aluminium and the base is iron. It is 30cm tall and stands 18cm out from the wall, with a 15.5cm shade. That compact size sits comfortably on a narrow stretch of wall.

We would put it in a living room, either side of a sofa or a chimney breast. A pair beside the bed can take the place of bedside lamps and leave the bedside table clear. It works well along a hallway or up a landing. It also suits a dining room or study where you want light at wall height rather than from the ceiling. The plain cone and black finish suit modern and Scandinavian rooms, and it sits just as happily against white walls as against darker paint. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. Lamps are not included, so you will need two G9 lamps. It is an on-off fitting, controlled by your wall switch.

The finish is matt black throughout, with no contrasting trim, so the shade, arm and wall plate read as one piece. It runs on 220-240V mains, and as a mains fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install. It carries a 3 year guarantee. For styling, we like a pair hung at the same height either side of a bed or a fireplace, where the two black cones read as a crisp, matching outline against a pale wall. A single one also works above an armchair in a quiet corner.
