Description

The Aston is a 320mm square lantern pendant built around a polished chrome frame with bevelled glass panels on all four sides. Four E14 candle bulbs sit inside the glass enclosure on chrome arms radiating from a central column, casting light through the bevelled glass while the chrome frame provides structure and reflects additional light into the room.

Designed for hallways, dining rooms and staircases where a lantern-style pendant suits both traditional and contemporary interiors, the Aston works in spaces with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3.5m. The drop is adjustable between 780mm and 1900mm on installation, allowing the lantern to be set higher in entrance halls with tall ceilings or lower over a dining table in a standard-height room. The 320mm cube footprint is compact enough for 1.2-1.5m-wide hallways without dominating the space.

Each glass panel is bevelled at the edges, which catches and refracts light where the panel meets the chrome frame. The polished chrome finish is highly reflective and pairs with both warm and cool colour schemes, though it shows fingerprints during installation so gloves are recommended. The four-bulb configuration provides consistent light distribution in all directions rather than a downward-focused beam. At 9.9kg the fitting requires secure ceiling fixing into a joist or reinforced ceiling rose.

What bulbs does it take?

The Aston takes four E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for a traditional look, or clear filament-style LED candles for visible decoration through the glass.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, provided dimmable bulbs are fitted. The fitting itself has no electrical dimming restriction, so pairing it with dimmable LED E14 bulbs and a compatible wall dimmer will allow full dimming control.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable drop of 780-1900mm suits ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards. In a 2.4m room the minimum 780mm drop leaves approximately 1.3m clearance below the lantern, which works for hallways and dining areas. Taller entrance halls and staircases with 3-4m ceilings can use the full 1900mm drop.

How is the polished chrome cleaned?

Polished chrome shows fingerprints and water marks easily. Clean with a soft microfibre cloth, lightly dampened if needed, and dry immediately to avoid streaking. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scourers that will scratch the finish.
