Description

The Aston is a 270mm square lantern pendant with a structural antique brass frame surrounding bevelled clear glass panels on all four sides. Three E14 candle bulbs (sold separately, max 20W each) sit on internal arms arranged in a triangular cluster at the centre of the lantern, casting light outward through the glass in all directions. The antique brass finish is a warmer, darker tone than polished brass, with visible patina and tonal variation across the metal.

Designed for entrance halls, staircases, and hallway landings where vertical ceiling height allows a pendant to hang without obstruction, the Aston suits ceiling heights of 2.7m or above when set to minimum drop. The adjustable chain provides a drop range from 710mm to 1660mm, allowing the lantern to be positioned to suit different ceiling heights and to clear head height on stair flights. The square profile gives the fitting visual presence from all viewing angles rather than appearing flat from the side as a cylindrical lantern would.

The bevelled glass panels are set into the brass frame with corner posts that run the full height of the lantern, giving structural rigidity and clean vertical lines. Each panel is cut with a shallow bevel along the edges, adding a subtle refractive effect to light passing through the glass. The combined weight of the brass frame and glass panels brings the lantern to 7.1kg, requiring secure fixing to a ceiling joist or a reinforced ceiling rose rated for the load.

The Aston takes three E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs, maximum 20W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs at 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for traditional interiors.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, if paired with dimmable E14 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting itself has no electronic components that would prevent dimming.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 710mm minimum drop suits ceiling heights of 2.7m or above in entrance halls where head clearance beneath the lantern is not an issue. For staircases the lantern can be set higher on the adjustable chain to clear head height on the flight.

How is the glass cleaned?

The bevelled glass panels can be cleaned with standard glass cleaner and a soft cloth. The antique brass frame should be dusted with a dry microfibre cloth; avoid chemical cleaners or polishes that would strip the patina finish.
