The Arqus is a 33cm diameter feather lampshade built on a clear vinyl frame with individual pink feathers hand-attached in overlapping layers to create a dense, textured surface. Each feather is positioned to overlap the one below it, giving the shade volume and depth while diffusing light through the gaps between feathers. The 20cm height suits table lamps, floor lamps and pendant conversions using standard UK lampshade fittings.

Designed for bedrooms, dressing rooms and living spaces where soft ambient light is needed, the Arqus works with bulbs up to 100W (LED or low-energy bulbs recommended to avoid heat damage to the feathers). The pink tone shifts depending on whether the lamp is lit or unlit — when off it presents as a pale blush pink; when lit from within the feathers glow warmer and the layered structure becomes more visible. The shade does not include a bulb or lamp base and is designed to fit onto existing lamp hardware.

The feather layers are attached to a rigid vinyl base that holds its circular shape without sagging. The 330mm diameter and 200mm height give the shade a drum-like silhouette that works on both table lamp bases and taller floor lamp stems. At 0.44kg the shade is light enough for most ceramic, wooden or metal lamp bases to support without tipping. The feathers require occasional dusting with a soft brush or low-power vacuum attachment to prevent dust buildup between the layers.

What lamp base does it fit?

The Arqus uses a standard UK lampshade fitting (spider or gimbal ring depending on your lamp base hardware). It fits onto existing table lamp bases, floor lamp stems and can be adapted for pendant use with the correct converter ring. The shade does not include electrical components or a bulb.

What bulb should I use?

The shade is rated for bulbs up to 100W, but LED or low-energy bulbs between 6-10W are recommended to avoid heat damage to the feathers. A warm-white LED at 2700K-3000K complements the pink tone without overwhelming it.

How are the feathers cleaned?

Dust the feathers regularly with a soft brush (e.g. a clean makeup brush or artist's paintbrush) or use a vacuum cleaner on its lowest setting with a soft brush attachment. Do not wash the feathers or use liquid cleaners, as this will damage the layered structure and the adhesive holding them to the vinyl base.

Is it suitable for high-traffic areas?

The feathers are delicate and the shade works best in low-contact positions — on a bedside table, dresser or side table rather than in hallways or rooms where it might be frequently knocked. The layered feathers can be displaced if the shade is handled roughly.
