Description

This oval wooden photo frame wears a white matt border printed all over with loose black line drawings of the cats from The Aristocats. They sit with tails curled, stretch, prowl, lap from little bowls and peer round the opening, with tiny butterflies and paw prints scattered between them, so there is something fresh to spot every time you look. It holds one 6 x 4in photograph in a single oval opening. The frame measures 20.8cm along its longer side and 15.8cm across its shorter side, and it is 1.7cm deep, a neat size that suits a shelf or a desk without crowding it.

It stands on its own easel back, so it needs no wall and no nails: set it on a desk, a bookshelf, a bedside table or a mantelpiece and it is ready. The oval opening is upright, which flatters a close-up portrait, a pet curled on a cushion or a favourite snapshot from a family day out. Because the print is simply black on white, it sits easily beside painted furniture, pale wood or a group of black and white pictures, and it works as well in a hallway or a study as in a bedroom or a nursery. The playful cats bring a smile without asking for attention, and the gentle sketch style keeps the look calm rather than busy.

The frame is made of wood with a smooth matt white finish front and back. Small turn clips at the back open it, so swapping in a different photograph takes a moment, and the easel holds the frame at a comfortable leaning angle. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft dry cloth, or wipe it with a damp cloth and dry it straight away, avoiding harsh cleaners that could wear the drawings. Slip a favourite photograph inside before you wrap it and it becomes a charming, ready-made gift.
