Description

The Arel LED DO is a compact round recessed downlight running 6W from a 220-240V AC supply and giving 450 lumens at a neutral 4000K cool white tone. A wide 120 degree beam spreads light evenly rather than spotlighting, which makes it a quiet, general-purpose fitting. Specifiers in the US market will recognise this format as a small recessed can light, and at only Ø75mm across it drops into a tight ceiling cut-out without dominating the surface. With a fixed integrated LED rated to 15,000 hours, there is no bulb to replace over the life of the fitting.

Each downlight covers around 2 m² at general lighting levels, so the Arel is best planned in multiples to build up even brightness across a space. It suits bathrooms, shower areas, porches, eaves and other sheltered outdoor ceilings thanks to its weatherproof front face, and the neutral 4000K output keeps colours looking natural in utility and washroom settings. On a standard domestic ceiling height the broad beam keeps shadows soft, and spacing several units in a grid gives a clean, low-profile finish. Plan the cut-out positions before installation so the lit area stays consistent room to room.

The body is aluminium alloy in a white finish, with an IP65 rating at the exposed front that protects against water jets and dust in wet locations. It mounts recessed into the ceiling and weighs just 90g, dropping into a cut-out sized for its Ø75mm housing. This version is not dimmable, so it is wired for straightforward on/off switching. The fitting has an overall front diameter of Ø75mm and recesses fully into the ceiling. Drill the cut-out to suit this housing diameter, and check there is enough void depth behind for the 23mm body before fixing.

How do I clean it?

Wipe the white front face and lens with a soft, slightly damp cloth once the fitting is switched off and cool. Avoid abrasive pads or solvents, which can mark the aluminium finish, and dry the face afterwards in wet areas.
