Description
The Arel LED DO is a recessed LED downlight that pushes 440 lumens from a 6W integrated LED, running on 220-240V AC mains. The wide 120 degree beam spreads light evenly rather than throwing a tight spot, and the warm 3000K tone keeps the light soft underfoot. In the US this style of recessed fitting is the familiar can light, dropped into a ceiling void so only the round white trim shows. With a fixed warm white output and an Ra 80 colour rendering, it reads as a clean, low-key ceiling point rather than a feature light.
Because it carries an IP65 rating on the front face, this downlight suits sheltered porches, soffits, eaves and covered outdoor areas as well as bathrooms and utility spaces indoors. At general lighting levels the 440 lumens cover around 1 m², so it works best installed in a run of several units to light a path overhead, a porch ceiling or a small wet area rather than as a single room light. Allow standard ceiling depth for the 23mm body, and space the fittings to overlap their spread for an even wash across the surface below.
Built from aluminium alloy with a white finish, the round trim measures Ø75mm and the fitting is just 23mm deep, so it sits neatly into a recessed ceiling cut-out. It is a non-dimmable unit running direct from mains voltage, with a rated lifespan of around 15,000 hours, and the IP65 front face keeps moisture and dust out in exposed positions. The Arel range includes further recessed downlights in matching white if you are lighting several areas to a consistent look.

Frequently Asked
Can this downlight be used outdoors or in a bathroom?
Yes. The front face is rated IP65, so it is suited to sheltered outdoor positions such as porches, soffits and eaves, as well as bathrooms and utility rooms indoors. It handles splashing and damp conditions provided it is recessed correctly into the ceiling.
What size cut-out does it need?
The fitting drops into a recessed ceiling cut-out and has an overall trim diameter of Ø75mm, with a shallow 23mm body depth behind it. Check the manufacturer cut-out figure on the spec sheet before drilling, as the cut-out hole is slightly smaller than the visible trim that sits on the surface.
Is this downlight dimmable?
No, this is a non-dimmable fitting. It runs direct from 220-240V mains AC and gives a fixed 440 lumen output, so it should be wired to a standard on or off switch rather than a dimmer.
How many will I need for a space?
Each unit delivers 440 lumens, covering around 1 m² at general lighting levels, so it is designed to be installed in a group. For a porch ceiling or small wet area, space several units evenly so their 120 degree spreads overlap for a consistent wash of warm white light.
