Description

Arbo Ice M is a frameless wall mirror 80cm wide by 78cm high, cut to the outline of a slice through a trunk, with the growth rings and the radial checks printed onto the glass. The sawn edge runs pale cream all the way round, so the shape reads as timber while the centre stays mirror. The printing is on the same sheet that carries the silvering, so the rings sit in the reflection rather than on top of it. The design is by Deknudt Mirrors.

At 80cm across it suits a hallway, a bathroom where it is rated to go, or a wall beside a window where raking light catches the rings. It is frameless, so the printed edge is the outline and there is no metal or timber to match to anything else in the room. It hangs from two screws in one direction, since the outline is not symmetrical and the pith sits off centre. At 8kg and 2.5cm deep it is a one person lift that sits close to the wall, with two screws, washers and plugs supplied and nothing to assemble. The same design is made in a larger 101cm size, and with a gold or a charcoal edge in place of this pale one.

The mirror is printed and mirrored glass in one sheet, with no backing board. Clean it with cleaner sprayed onto a soft cloth rather than onto the glass, working outwards along the rings rather than across them. The rings are densest towards the sawn edge and open out towards the pith, which is what makes the printing read as growth rather than as a pattern. Seven year warranty, made in Belgium.
