Description

We stock the Antic as a single-light glass pendant that pairs a ribbed smoke glass dome with a vertical satin gold stem and a spherical accent between the two. The dome carries deep radial fluting that refracts the light outward when the bulb is lit, and a matching satin gold canopy finishes the fitting at the ceiling. It takes one E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately), and the smoke-tinted glass reads as charcoal grey in daylight and a soft amber-grey once a warm white bulb is switched on.

We designed it for over a dining table, breakfast bar or kitchen island, where you want a decorative fitting that still does a proper job of lighting the surface below. The smoke glass softens the direct glare from the bulb while the fluted profile scatters light across the surrounding worktop and walls. The combined glass and metal give it a balanced visual weight, so it holds its own without dominating a smaller room, and the satin gold sits as a warm mid-tone that works with both warm and neutral colour schemes.

The fitting is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms and is not dimmable, so we would keep it on a standard switch. A single 60W E27 bulb gives 510 lumens at 2700K warm white with an 80 CRI, running on a 220 to 240V supply. It is not supplied with a bulb, and most people fit a filament-style LED to complement the decorative glass. If you want the same look over a wider span, we also list a four-light version of the Antic in gold.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does it take and is one included?

It takes one standard E27 bulb up to 60W, which is sold separately. We would fit a filament-style LED so the shape shows through the ribbed smoke glass.

Is it dimmable?

No. The Antic is not dimmable, so we would run it from a standard on/off switch rather than a dimmer. The bulb it takes will set the brightness at 510 lumens of 2700K warm white.

Where does it work best?

We designed it for over a dining table, breakfast bar or kitchen island. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms, so it is not suitable for a bathroom or anywhere exposed to moisture.

How is this different from the other Antic pendants?

This is the single-light version with a smoke glass dome. We also list it with amber and opal glass, and in a four-light form for wider spans, all in the same satin gold finish.
