Description

We stock the Antic as a four-light pendant that suspends four ribbed smoke glass shades from two intersecting antique brass arcs. Each shade hangs from a solid brass sphere set at the base of an arc, with the cable run neatly inside the curved brass tubing so only the shades and the metalwork are on show. The smoke glass softens the glare from the bulbs without fully hiding them, giving a warm downward light with a little texture where the ribbing catches it.

It is built for a dining table or a kitchen island, where the four evenly spaced shades throw four zones of direct downlight across the surface below. Because the two arcs cross at the centre, there is something to look at from every angle while the light stays balanced end to end. The smoke glass makes it comfortable enough for task lighting over a worktop as well as softer, ambient light over a dining area, so it earns its place in a busy family kitchen.

Each of the four holders takes a standard E27 bulb up to 40W (bulbs sold separately), so you can pick the brightness and colour of light to suit the room. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor use and runs on a 220-240V AC supply. The fitting is not dimmable on its own, but it will dim if you fit dimmable bulbs and pair them with a compatible dimmer. This is a hard-wired ceiling fitting, so we would always have it installed by a qualified electrician.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs does it take?

It uses four E27 bulbs, each up to 40W (bulbs sold separately). That lets you choose the brightness and the colour of light, from a soft warm white for dining up to something crisper for kitchen tasks.

Is it dimmable?

Not on its own. If you fit dimmable E27 bulbs and wire it to a compatible dimmer switch (both sold separately), you can take it from full brightness down to a softer glow over the table.

Where does it work best?

It is designed for a dining table or a kitchen island. The four shades sit in a line and spread even downlight across the surface below, so it suits a longer table or run of worktop rather than a small side space.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms only, so we would keep it to a kitchen, dining room or hallway and not fit it in a bathroom or anywhere it could get wet.
