Description

The Anbu is a bed frame in solid acacia, finished in a deep washed walnut. The headboard is built from broad horizontal boards held between two uprights, and each joint carries a peg through the face of it, left showing rather than hidden. The posts taper as they drop to the floor. The base is slatted across, so the frame takes a mattress directly. This is the king, 160.5cm wide and 210.5cm long, standing 110cm at the head.

This is the king size. It wants a wall run of at least 160.5cm with room to walk at the foot and down at least one side, and at 210.5cm from head to foot the frame is longer than the mattress it carries. At 110cm the headboard stands well above the pillows, so it shows from across a room and gives something to sit up against. The slats are part of the frame, so no separate base is needed.

The frame is solid acacia throughout. Each piece is shaped by hand and smoothed with traditional tools, and the walnut finish is worked into the wood so the grain comes up through it rather than being covered over. The Anbu is also made as a double, and the range runs to a matching chest of drawers, a bedside table and a wardrobe in the same acacia and the same finish. No mattress is included.
