Description

The Anbu is a dining chair in solid acacia, 76cm tall and 57cm wide. The back is one curved rail that sweeps round at each end and carries on forward into a pair of arms, so the back and the arms read as a single continuous line. The seat is made up of boards laid across a square frame with a rail beneath the front edge, and the four legs are turned round and taper towards the floor. The wood is finished in a deep washed walnut, dark enough to read brown while the grain stays visible through it.

The seat sits at 45cm, which is standard dining height, and measures 50.5cm across by 44cm deep. Overall the chair is 57cm wide and 56cm deep. It works at a desk as readily as around a dining table: a set of them round a table, or one on its own at a desk or in the corner of a room. The arms drop from the back rail and finish above the front legs.

The chair is solid acacia throughout, finished in a deep washed walnut that lets the grain show rather than covering it. The colour will shift a little over time, as it does on any natural wood. The Anbu range runs wide: dining tables in acacia and in mango, an upholstered dining chair, upholstered counter chairs, a bed in a double and a king, a bedside table, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe.
