Amri Iron Candlestick - Antique Brass

The Amri is a candlestick cast in iron: a shallow round dish 9cm across, with a straight socket rising 5.5cm from the middle of it and a large round handle looped off one side. The socket takes a dinner candle. The rim of the socket is left faceted rather than turned true, and the antique brass finish sits unevenly over the casting so the dish reads darker in the hollows than on the raised edge.

The dish catches the wax and the handle takes two fingers, so this is a candlestick to carry from room to room as well as to set down. At 5.5cm it is low enough to stand on a laid table without interrupting a sightline across it, and it occupies 9cm of surface. It sits as easily on a windowsill or the shelf of a hall table.

The casting is iron, finished in antique brass. The surface is left as it comes off the casting rather than polished smooth, so the tone varies across the dish and from one candlestick to the next. The candle is not included.
