Amalia 1 Light Bathroom Wall Light - Polished Chrome

The Amalia is a 406mm bathroom wall light with a white opal etched glass cylinder set on a polished chrome bracket and stepped rectangular backplate. A single 3W 3000K G9 LED bulb inside the cylinder diffuses through the etched glass to cast soft, even light. The IP44 rating allows safe use in bathroom zones 2 and 3, making it suitable for positioning beside mirrors, above sinks, or on walls outside the immediate shower or bath area.

Designed for bathroom vanity lighting, the Amalia mounts vertically with a 129mm projection from the wall, keeping the glass cylinder clear of mirror edges and wall cabinets. The cylindrical glass measures approximately 330mm tall, providing enough vertical spread to light a face evenly when mounted at standard mirror height (1600-1800mm from floor to centre). The stepped backplate references traditional wall sconces while the polished chrome and clean lines work in both classical and contemporary bathrooms.

The white opal glass is etched rather than smooth, which reduces glare and hides the lamp filament when viewed directly. The polished chrome finish pairs with chrome taps, towel rails and shower fittings without clashing with brushed or satin chrome fixtures in the same space. The included 3W LED produces warm white light at 3000K, avoiding the clinical tone of higher colour temperatures while remaining bright enough for grooming tasks. The G9 lamp is replaceable if the LED eventually fails.

What bathroom zones is this suitable for?

The IP44 rating allows safe use in bathroom zones 2 and 3. This means it can be mounted beside mirrors, above sinks, or on walls outside the immediate shower or bath enclosure, but not inside a shower cubicle or directly above a bathtub.

Does it come with a bulb?

Yes. The Amalia includes a 3W 3000K G9 LED bulb. The bulb is replaceable if it eventually fails, and standard G9 LED lamps are widely available.

How is it fitted to the wall?

The stepped rectangular backplate fixes to a standard UK wall box or direct to the wall with screws and wall plugs. The backplate conceals the fixing points once the fitting is wired and mounted. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Can it be mounted horizontally?

The Amalia is designed for vertical mounting with the cylindrical glass standing upright. Horizontal mounting would position the bulb at the side of the cylinder rather than the base, which would create uneven light distribution through the etched glass.
