Aluva Cast Glass Coffee Table - Antique Brass

The Aluva is a round coffee table, 74cm across and 43cm high. The top is a thick disc of sand-cast glass, separate from the frame and slotting onto it. The glass is dark and cloudy, with long curving lines running across the face and the occasional air bubble held inside it, and the edge is left thick and glossy. The frame is solid iron under an antique brass finish: four slim round legs with a cross-brace low between them.

The top stands 43cm off the floor and measures 74cm across, so it takes the middle of a seating group rather than sitting beside a single chair. The frame is open and the legs are thin, so the floor or the rug shows through beneath it, and the cross-brace sits low enough to leave room for feet.

The top is glass and the frame is iron. The glass is sand cast: the shape is carved into sand, molten glass is poured in, and once it has cooled the sand is taken away.
