Alor DTL 80x80 Square GU10 Recessed Spotlight - Matte White

The Alor DTL-W is a square recessed spotlight that drops into the ceiling to sit flush, giving a tidy point of directional light without any visible bulk. It accepts an MR16 or PAR16 lamp through its Gx5.3 or GU10 cap, taking a source rated up to 10W, and runs on either 12V AC/DC through a transformer or directly on 220-240V mains depending on the lamp fitted. As an led spotlight this is the recessed version of what some call a recessed downlight spot, putting a controlled pool of light exactly where it is aimed rather than washing a whole ceiling.

Use the Alor DTL-W where you want defined accent or task light indoors, such as over a kitchen worktop, above a reading nook, or in a hallway run where several units pick out the floor. The square 83 x 83 mm trim suits clean contemporary ceilings and lines up neatly when set out in a grid. Coverage is best thought of as a focused beam rather than broad room fill, so plan several fittings across a space if you want even brightness, and choose the lamp beam angle to set how tight or wide each pool falls. With a standard ceiling height the throw lands cleanly on worktops and surfaces below.

The body is steel finished in matte white, a clean tone that disappears into a painted ceiling. It carries an IP20 rating, so this is a dry indoor fitting only and should be kept out of bathrooms, porches and any damp or outdoor position. Mounting is recessed into the ceiling void, and at 74g it is light to handle during install. Because the lamp is bought separately you can pick the wattage, beam and colour temperature to suit the room, and dimming depends on the lamp and any driver you pair with it. Is the Alor DTL-W suitable for a bathroom or outdoors?

No. It carries an IP20 rating, which means it is for dry indoor use only. Keep it clear of bathrooms, showers, porches and any damp or outdoor location, and choose an IP-rated fitting for those areas instead.

Does it come with a bulb, and can it be dimmed?

No lamp is included, so you choose your own MR16 or PAR16 to fit the Gx5.3 or GU10 cap, up to 10W. Whether it dims depends on the lamp you select and, for 12V lamps, the driver you pair with it, so check both are marked dimmable.

What beam angle does it give?

The beam is set by the lamp you fit rather than the fitting itself, since the trim simply holds the MR16/PAR16 source. Pick a narrow beam for tight accent on an object, or a wider beam for more general task light across a worktop.

How do I clean it?

Switch off and let the lamp cool, then wipe the matte white steel trim with a soft dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid solvents and abrasive pads so the painted finish stays even, and do not let moisture reach the lamp or terminals.
