Description

The Alor DTL-B is a recessed square spotlight built around a single MR16 or PAR16 lamp on a Gx5.3 or GU10 base, drawing up to 10W. It runs from either 12V AC/DC via a transformer or directly from 220-240V AC, depending on the lamp fitted. As an led spotlight it sits flush in the ceiling, throwing a focused pool of light downward to pick out a worktop, a feature wall or a piece of furniture rather than washing a whole room. The compact 83 x 83 mm square face gives a clean, geometric trim that groups neatly in rows or grids.

Use the DTL-B where directional accent light matters: kitchen runs over a counter, hallway or landing detail, retail display niches or living-room shelving. Because the output is shaped by the lamp you choose, coverage is best judged by beam rather than floor area; a narrow MR16 concentrates a tight highlight on a single object, while a wider lamp spreads a softer pool across a small zone. Plan several heads spaced along a ceiling for even accenting across a longer surface. Note the IP20 rating means this fitting is for dry indoor positions only and must be kept clear of bathrooms, porches and any damp or exposed location.

Construction is steel with a black matt finish that keeps the trim discreet against darker ceilings. The square body recesses into the ceiling, so allow for a suitable cut-out and the 24 mm depth above the plasterboard, plus the transformer if a 12V lamp is used. The lamp itself is supplied separately, letting you set wattage, beam and colour temperature to the room. At just 74 g it is light to handle during install. No, the lamp is supplied separately so you can choose the wattage, beam angle and colour temperature to suit the room. The fitting accepts a Gx5.3 or GU10 base and takes MR16 or PAR16 lamps up to 10W. Whether it is dimmable depends on the lamp and driver you fit.

Can this spotlight be used outdoors or in a bathroom?

No. The Alor DTL-B carries an IP20 rating, which means it is for dry indoor use only. Keep it out of bathrooms, porches, garages and any damp or exposed area, and choose an IP65-rated fitting for those locations instead.

What size cut-out does it need and how does it mount?

It is a recessed fitting that drops into a cut-out in the ceiling, sitting flush with the 83 x 83 mm square trim on show. Allow for the 24 mm body depth above the plasterboard, plus clearance for a transformer if you run a 12V lamp.

How should I clean the spotlight?

Switch off and let any lamp cool, then wipe the black matt steel trim with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive pads and solvents so the matt finish stays even, and keep moisture away from the lamp and fitting.
