Description

The Alor DSL-W is a square recessed spotlight that drops into the ceiling to sit flush with the surface. It accepts a single MR16 or PAR16 lamp through a Gx5.3 or GU10 cap, running on 12V AC, 12V DC or mains 220-240V AC depending on the lamp chosen, with a maximum rated load of 10W. The compact 76 x 76 mm square aperture gives a tidy geometric face, and the directional lamp it holds delivers a focused pool of light rather than broad ambient fill. As a recessed fitting it sits in the family of led spotlight fixtures buyers in the US would recognise as a square recessed can light.

Because it throws a directed beam, it suits accent and feature lighting rather than lighting a whole room on its own. Use a line of them above a kitchen worktop, along a hallway, over a display niche or to wash a feature wall, where each unit marks out a defined patch of brightness and the throw stays tight. Grouping several across a ceiling builds even task coverage, while a single fitting works well to highlight artwork or a shelf. No. It carries an IP20 rating, which means it is rated for dry indoor use only. Keep it out of bathrooms, shower zones, porches and any damp or outdoor location, and choose an IP65 fitting where moisture is a factor.

What lamp does it take and is one included?

It uses a single MR16 or PAR16 lamp via a Gx5.3 or GU10 cap, up to a maximum of 10W. The lamp is not supplied, so you can select the wattage, beam angle and colour temperature to suit the job.

Does it need a transformer?

It runs on 12V AC, 12V DC or mains 220-240V AC depending on the lamp fitted. If you choose a low-voltage MR16 lamp on the 12V supply, a suitable transformer or driver is required; a mains GU10 lamp runs directly without one.

How do I clean the spotlight?

Switch off and let the lamp cool, then wipe the matte white steel face with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth. Avoid solvents and abrasive cleaners so the finish stays even, and never spray liquid directly into the recessed aperture.
