Description

The Alor DSL-B is a square recessed spotlight that drops into the ceiling to sit flush with the surface, giving a neat downward beam from a single GU10 or Gx5.3 lamp. It runs a lamp of up to 10W and accepts both mains 220-240V AC fittings and 12V AC or DC MR16/PAR16 lamps, so it suits either a direct GU10 setup or a low-voltage layout with a transformer. As a fixed-position recessed fitting, often sold in the US bracket as a recessed light or downlight, it throws light straight down to pick out a defined area below rather than washing a whole room.

Use the Alor DSL-B where you want controlled accent or task light: over a worktop, in a hallway, above a reading chair, or in a row to graze a feature wall. The square 76 x 76 mm trim sits well in clean, grid-led ceiling schemes and lines up tidily when several are run together. Because the beam is directional, plan placement around what you want lit rather than for even ambient fill, and space a run evenly for a consistent set of pools of light. This is an indoor fitting only, rated IP20, so keep it clear of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor location.

The body is steel in a black matt finish, with a compact 34 mm recessed depth and a 44 g weight that suits standard plasterboard ceilings. It takes a Gx5.3 or GU10 capped MR16/PAR16 lamp, which is supplied separately so you can choose the wattage, beam angle and colour temperature to match the room. Dimming depends on the lamp and any driver used on the low-voltage option. Wipe the trim occasionally with a dry cloth to keep the finish clean.

No. It is rated IP20, which means it is for dry indoor use only. Keep it clear of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor or sheltered-outdoor location.

Which lamp does it take and is one included?

It accepts a Gx5.3 or GU10 capped MR16/PAR16 lamp rated up to 10W. The lamp is supplied separately, so you can pick the beam angle and colour temperature to suit the space.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the lamp you fit and, on the 12V option, the driver or transformer used. Choose a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer if you want adjustable output.

How do I clean it?

Wipe the black matt trim with a dry or barely damp cloth once the lamp has cooled. Avoid solvents or abrasive cleaners so the matt finish stays even.
