Description

This is a faux aloe plant set in a plain black pot, with broad green leaves fanning out around a single orange flower spike. It stands 81cm tall and spreads to 56cm wide, so it reads as a full, mature aloe without any watering or upkeep. The leaves have the toothed edges and pale bloom of the real thing, and the flower runs from red buds at the base through orange to soft yellow-green at the tip.

It works well on a windowsill, sideboard or side table, and in a bright bathroom or kitchen where a living plant might struggle. The scale suits a hallway console or a spot on the floor beside a chair, and the warm flower gives a lift to a room built around greens and neutrals. As an artificial plant it holds its shape in low light and away from a window.

The leaves are shaped in foam over a wire core, so they hold their angle and can be bent gently to spread the fan. The flower stem is plastic and lifts clear of the leaves for height. The pot is weighted with cement to keep it steady. To care for it, dust the leaves now and then with a soft dry cloth, and keep it out of prolonged direct sun to hold the colour.
