Description

The Albavilla is a long, slim linear pendant light: a single straight bar of aluminium in a silver finish, hung level on two fine wires from a neat rectangular ceiling canopy. The bar is 212cm long, 3.8cm wide and 6.6cm high overall, so it reads as a clean line across a room rather than a bulky shade. Its light comes from built-in LEDs set in a row of small recessed cells along the underside, in a 4000K neutral white that keeps colours clear and print easy to read. No IP rating is given for it, so we suggest it for dry rooms indoors, away from bathrooms and anywhere damp.

At 212cm long, the Albavilla is made for long surfaces. Hung above a big dining table, a long desk or a shared workbench, it spreads light along the whole length instead of pooling it in one spot, which is why we like it for home offices and studios where several people sit side by side. The silver aluminium suits grey, white and concrete schemes, and the slim profile keeps sightlines open across the room. Because it is dimmable, the same light can be bright and businesslike for work, then turned down low for an evening meal.

The body is aluminium in a silver finish. Aluminium is a light metal that does not rust, and the complete fitting weighs 4.7KG. The LEDs are replaceable, and both the LED and the driver can be replaced by a specialist, so a worn part need not mean a new light. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains and, as a wired-in ceiling light, is installed by a qualified electrician; the installation instructions are available as a download. Before you buy, measure the table or desk you plan to light: at 212cm, the Albavilla looks best above a surface of similar length.
