Description

The Albarino is a cluster pendant. Five rounded smoked glass shades hang from a single round ceiling plate, each at its own height, so the shades fall in a loose cascade rather than a straight row. The body is steel in a bright chrome finish. The shades are vaporised glass with a black-transparent tint, smoky enough to give the glass depth while keeping the lamp visible. It measures 150cm in overall height and 55.5cm in diameter. Each shade takes an E27 lamp of up to 40W, and the lamps are not included. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

Over a dining table it gives the room a clear centre, and the staggered drops mean the cluster looks considered from every seat. It works just as well in a living room, or in a hallway or landing where the ceiling is high enough to let the longest shade hang free. Five lamps in one fitting spread light across a wider area than a single pendant can, so it suits an open-plan space that needs one confident centrepiece rather than several separate lights. The chrome and smoky glass sit comfortably with deep teal or navy walls, and just as easily with paler, warmer schemes.

There is no switch on the fitting itself. It is switched at the wall, so it runs from the light switch already in the room. It takes 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains and, as a wired-in ceiling light, is installed by a qualified electrician. The installation instructions come as a download, and the packed weight is 6.156KG. Our practical tip: because the smoked glass keeps the lamp visible, choose a decorative E27 filament lamp you will enjoy seeing, within the 40W maximum per shade.
