Description

The Aethera is a compact cube-form outdoor wall light measuring 65mm wide with an 80mm projection, finished in matt black powder-coated aluminium. A single G9 bulb (sold separately) sits within the cube and directs light downward through a frosted diffuser at the base, casting a pool of light onto the wall below and the ground directly beneath the fitting.

Designed for doorways, porch entries, garage doors and patio walls where a low-profile fitting is needed, the Aethera mounts directly to vertical exterior surfaces and provides focused task light rather than wide flood illumination. The IP44 rating protects against rain splash and solid objects above 1mm, making it suitable for covered outdoor positions such as under eaves, canopies or recessed entrances. The fitting is dimmable when paired with a compatible G9 LED bulb and dimmer switch.

The matt black finish absorbs daylight reflections and pairs cleanly with contemporary, industrial and minimalist exterior schemes. At 65mm square the fitting sits flush to the wall with minimal visual interruption, making it suitable for tight spacing around door frames or where multiple units are needed along a long wall run. The aluminium body resists corrosion in coastal and urban environments, and Ideal Lux backs the fitting with a 5-year warranty.

What bulb does the Aethera take?

The fitting takes a single G9 capsule bulb, sold separately. Most users pair this with a 2W-4W LED G9 in warm white (2700K-3000K) for outdoor entrance lighting. Check the maximum wattage rating before selecting a bulb.

Is it suitable for fully exposed outdoor locations?

The IP44 rating protects against rain splash from any direction, but the fitting performs best under some overhead cover such as eaves, porch canopies or recessed doorways. For fully exposed coastal or open-field positions, an IP65-rated fitting may be more appropriate.

Does the light shine upward or downward?

The Aethera directs light downward only, through a frosted diffuser at the base of the cube. There is no upward spill or side-wash light—the fitting is designed to illuminate the wall below and the ground immediately beneath it.

Can it be mounted horizontally or at an angle?

The fitting is designed for vertical wall mounting only. Mounting it horizontally or at an angle would position the downward light outlet incorrectly and may affect weather protection.
