Description

The Aethera is a compact cubic outdoor wall light measuring 65mm square with an 80mm projection, finished in anthracite powder-coated metal. A single G9 bulb (sold separately) sits inside the cube and casts light downward through a frosted glass diffuser at the base, creating a focused pool of illumination on the ground below the fitting.

Designed for porches, doorways, patio walls and garden pathways, the Aethera provides directed task lighting rather than wide-area wash. The 65mm cube footprint suits narrow walls, door surrounds and posts where a larger fitting would overwhelm the available mounting surface. The IP44 rating protects against splashing water from any direction, making the fitting suitable for covered outdoor areas exposed to rain but not direct high-pressure jets or submersion.

The anthracite finish is a dark grey powder coat applied to a die-cast aluminium body, offering corrosion resistance and a low-reflectivity surface that blends into dark-painted walls, brickwork and cladding. The fitting is dimmable when paired with a compatible G9 dimmable bulb and dimmer switch rated for outdoor use. Ideal Lux covers the Aethera with a 5-year manufacturer warranty.

What does the IP44 rating mean?

IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and against splashing water from any direction. The Aethera is suitable for covered outdoor areas such as porches, covered patios and eaves, but should not be exposed to direct high-pressure water jets or submersion.

What bulb does it take?

The Aethera takes a single G9 bulb up to the maximum wattage specified in the manufacturer's instructions (typically 28W halogen or 3-5W LED equivalent). Bulbs are sold separately. For outdoor use, choose a bulb rated for enclosed fittings and outdoor temperatures.

Can it be mounted on a wooden post or fence?

Yes. The 65mm square back plate can be fixed to wooden posts, fences, brick or rendered walls using appropriate fixings for the substrate. Ensure the cable entry point is sealed against moisture ingress.

Does the light shine up or down?

The Aethera casts light downward through a frosted glass diffuser at the base of the cube. It is designed to illuminate the ground or wall surface below the fitting rather than providing upward or wide wash light.
