Description

The Aegeus is a 704mm table lamp built around an X-shaped polished nickel frame that sits on a white marble plinth. The crossed metal bands form a triangular base structure that supports a central rod carrying a 450mm diameter silver-grey polycotton drum shade with faux silk trim. The lamp takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately).

Designed for side tables, console tables and bedroom nightstands, the Aegeus provides ambient light filtered through the polycotton shade rather than direct task lighting. The 704mm overall height and 450mm shade diameter suit tables at least 500mm wide to balance the visual weight. The combination of polished nickel and white marble pairs with both contemporary and transitional interiors, working in rooms with warm woods, greys, or cooler whites.

The polished nickel frame reflects ambient light and gives the lamp a brighter appearance in daylight than matt or brushed finishes would provide. The white marble base adds 1.2kg of weight to the 350mm-tall metal frame, keeping the lamp stable on surfaces where it might be knocked by passing movement. The X-frame geometry means the lamp footprint is 320mm x 280mm at the base but narrows to a single rod at the shade, giving clearance for books, glasses or phones on the same table surface.

What bulb does the Aegeus take?

The lamp takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient bedside or living room lighting.

Is the marble base heavy enough to prevent tipping?

Yes. The white marble plinth adds substantial weight to the metal frame, giving the lamp stability on side tables and consoles where it might be knocked. The 320mm x 280mm footprint also provides a wide base relative to the height.

Can the shade be replaced?

The 450mm polycotton drum shade is a standard UK fitting. Replacement shades of the same diameter and E27 carrier ring can be sourced from Elstead or aftermarket suppliers if the original shade is damaged or you wish to change the colour.

What table width does it suit?

The 450mm shade diameter and 320mm base width work best on tables at least 500mm wide. On narrower surfaces the shade may overhang the table edge, creating a visual imbalance.
