Description
A low armchair built on a flat iron frame finished in brass, with a seat cushion and a back panel in moss green buffalo leather. The frame runs as one continuous loop on each side: a sled foot along the floor, up at the back, forward along the top as an arm rail, and over in a curve at the front. The leather is studded along its edges with rows of small round brass heads, and the back panel is carried on a bar across the back of the frame, set at a slight recline.
The seat sits 40cm off the floor, 54cm wide and 59cm deep, and the chair is 82cm deep overall, so it wants clearance behind it as well as in front. At 72cm high the back is low, which keeps the chair under a window line or in the corner of a room without filling it. The arm rails carry a leather pad along the top, where the elbow lands.
The frame is iron with a brass finish, and the upholstery is buffalo leather, a by-product of farming, finished with wax. The hide is heavily crazed and mottled, reading dark green in some lights and closer to grey in others, and it will move further with use. The chair weighs 19.25kg.
