Description

A pair of shallow storage baskets woven from iron wire mesh, one larger than the other. Each is a low rectangular tray that tapers from a wide rim down to a smaller flat base, so the sides slope outwards as they rise. Two brown leather straps are fixed at the ends as handles, each doubled over on itself for thickness. The mesh is a fine square weave rather than a grid of thick rods.

These are low and open rather than deep, so what goes into them stays visible. The smaller basket holds a stack of books and the larger two rolled blankets. They fit under a console table, at the end of a sofa, or on a shelf in a utility room. The two are made to stack when only one is in use.

The mesh and the frame are iron, shaped by hand from wire and finished in a warm aged brass tone against which the brown leather reads darker. The handles are doubled back on themselves for durability. The set is the two baskets, one larger and one smaller.
