Description

The Abari is a wall mounted planter built from straight iron rods crossed into an open grid, 89cm across and 50cm tall, with the rod ends left projecting past the joins. Seven zinc pots sit in bands fixed to the grid, two on the top row, three through the middle and two below, so they stagger rather than line up. Each pot is a tapered bucket with a rolled rim, and the pale grey patina turns gold and rust brown towards the base.

It is made to go outside and every pot has drainage holes, which suits herbs, small succulents and trailing plants that will spill over a rim. At 89cm wide it fills a stretch of fence or the wall between a door and a window, and it holds the planting at chest height rather than on the ground. It projects 14cm from the wall, which suits a narrow balcony or a path where a trough on the floor would be in the way.

The pots are zinc and the grid is iron, both left bare to weather, so the rust on the rods will deepen the longer it stays out. The Abari range also runs to a caged hanging planter and a round hanging planter, each in two sizes, a tapered planter in medium and large, and a planter stand in the same aged zinc.

Frequently Asked

Do the pots have drainage holes?

Yes, all seven of them.

How many pots come with it?

Seven, and they are separate pots held in bands on the grid rather than a single moulded tray.

Can it stay outside?

Yes. It is made for outdoor use, and the iron carries on rusting the longer it is left out, which is where the colour of the grid comes from.

How far does it stand off the wall?

14cm. It measures 89cm across and 50cm tall.

How should it be looked after?

Store it away or bring it inside over the winter months, and wash it at least twice a year with warm soapy water so dust and dirt do not build up. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners away from it.
