The Knightsbridge 8-gang grid faceplate is a 148mm square polished chrome cover plate designed for use with the Knightsbridge screwless grid system. The faceplate clips onto a separate GDS003F metal frame (sold separately) which houses up to eight individual grid modules — switches, dimmers, sockets, data ports or blanking plates in any combination.

This modular approach suits installations where multiple control points need to be grouped in a single location, such as hallways controlling different lighting zones, home offices combining power and data outlets, or hospitality settings where flexibility and future reconfiguration are required. The screwless design means the polished chrome cover plate sits flush against the wall with no visible fixings, giving a cleaner finish than traditional screw-fixed plates.

The faceplate is constructed from premium-grade steel with a polished chrome finish that provides a bright, reflective surface matching the wider Knightsbridge screwless range. At 3.5mm projection from the wall, the plate sits low-profile once installed. The 25-year warranty covers manufacturing defects in the faceplate itself; individual grid modules carry their own separate warranty terms.

What frame is needed to use this faceplate?

This faceplate requires one Knightsbridge GDS003F 8-gang grid frame, sold separately. The frame mounts to the back box and provides the fixing points for up to eight individual grid modules. The faceplate clips onto the frame after the modules are installed.

Can I mix different module types behind this plate?

Yes. The grid system allows any combination of Knightsbridge grid modules — switches, dimmers, sockets, data ports, blanking plates — to be fitted into the frame behind this faceplate. Each module is rated and certified independently.

What back box depth is required?

The back box depth depends on the specific grid modules being installed. Most standard grid switches and sockets require a 35mm minimum back box depth, but deeper modules (such as dimmer switches) may require 47mm. Check the specification for each module you plan to install.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The polished chrome cover plate clips onto the GDS003F frame and can be removed without tools for painting or wallpapering around the installation, then re-clipped into place afterwards.
