Description
The Knightsbridge 8-gang grid faceplate is a 148mm square polished chrome cover plate designed to house modular grid switches, sockets and data modules from the Flat Plate Grid System. The faceplate accepts two 4-gang grid frames (GDF002F, sold separately) which clip into place behind the plate, allowing eight individual grid modules to be configured in a single installation point.
Grid systems suit commercial installations, AV control panels, kitchen islands and home offices where multiple functions need to be grouped in a single location without using multiple separate faceplates. The 8-gang configuration allows combinations such as four switched sockets plus four light switches, or a mix of power, data, HDMI, USB and audio modules depending on the grid inserts chosen. The faceplate itself has a 3.5mm ultra-flat profile from the wall once fitted, matching the rest of the Flat Plate range.
Premium-grade steel construction provides rigidity across the 148mm span, preventing flex when modules are operated. The polished chrome finish is mirror-bright and maintains consistency with the wider Flat Plate switches and sockets collection. The IP20 rating confirms suitability for dry indoor locations. The faceplate fixes to standard 25mm minimum back boxes using the grid frames, with visible screw fixings (this is a traditional screw-fixed plate, not a screwless variant).

Frequently Asked
What grid frames are needed?
This faceplate requires two Knightsbridge GDF002F 4-gang grid frames (sold separately). Each frame holds four grid modules, giving the full 8-gang capacity. The frames clip behind the faceplate and fix to the back box.
What modules can be used?
Any Knightsbridge Flat Plate Grid System modules: switches (1-way, 2-way, intermediate), sockets (13A, shaver, USB), data (RJ45, RJ11), AV (HDMI, coax, 3.5mm jack), blank plates. Modules must be from the Flat Plate Grid range to ensure dimensional and finish compatibility.
What back box depth is required?
A 35mm back box is recommended to accommodate the grid frames and wiring for eight modules. Shallower 25mm boxes may work with low-depth modules but can become tight with multiple sockets or data modules that have bulkier terminations.
Is this a screwless faceplate?
No. The faceplate fixes with visible screws through the grid frames to the back box. For a screwless finish, Knightsbridge offers a separate screwless range with clip-on cover plates.
