Description

The Knightsbridge 6" BC pendant holder is a pre-wired pendant fitting with a B22d bayonet cap lampholder, a white thermoset resin canopy and a 244mm fixed drop. The fitting arrives with internal wiring already terminated, reducing installation time to connecting the mains cable to the canopy terminals and fitting the cover plate.

Designed for utility lighting in workshops, outbuildings, garages and storage areas where a simple pendant is needed without decorative housing, the holder suits any standard B22 bayonet-cap bulb up to 100W incandescent or 8W LED. The T2 rating confirms the holder can operate safely at elevated temperatures generated by higher-wattage incandescent bulbs, though most installations now use LED equivalents running cooler and drawing less power.

The white thermoset resin construction gives the fitting a Class II double-insulated rating, meaning it does not require an earth connection and can be installed in locations without earthed metalwork. The IP20 rating confirms protection against solid objects larger than 12.5mm but no moisture ingress protection, so the fitting is for dry indoor use only. The terminal capacity of 2 x 1.5mm² accepts standard UK lighting cable and the fitting carries a 25-year warranty from Knightsbridge.

What does pre-wired mean?

The lampholder and canopy arrive with internal wiring already connected. Installation requires connecting your mains supply cable to the canopy terminals, fitting the cover plate, and screwing in a bulb. This reduces installation time compared to holders supplied as separate components.

What bulb does it take?

The holder accepts any B22d bayonet-cap bulb up to 100W incandescent or 8W LED. Most users pair this with a standard B22 LED bulb between 6-10W and 3000K-4000K depending on the application. Bulbs are sold separately.

Can it be used outdoors or in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating confirms no moisture ingress protection, so the fitting is for dry indoor locations only — workshops, garages, storage rooms, utility areas. For outdoor or bathroom use you need a holder rated IP44 or higher.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the bulb you fit. The holder itself does not restrict dimming, but most B22 LED bulbs are non-dimmable unless the packaging specifically states otherwise. If you need dimming, check the bulb specification before purchase.
