Description

This arched MDF plaque marks a ruby anniversary with a simple, heartfelt message: 40 years together. The white frame curves into a soft arch around a recessed panel in pale grey. At its centre sits a raised white heart, outlined in a fine red line, with a large red 40 in flowing script above the words years and together in dark lettering. Beneath the heart, a tiny red heart sits between two fine lines over the words ruby anniversary, echoing the ruby red that marks forty years. The plaque measures 18cm by 13.8cm across its face and just 2.6cm deep, so it takes up very little room.

It stands upright on its flat lower edge, so it needs no wall and suits a mantelpiece, a bookshelf, a sideboard or a dressing table, wherever a fortieth anniversary deserves a quiet place in daily life. The crisp white and soft red sit comfortably in most rooms, from a bright living room to a calm bedroom. As an anniversary gift it says what matters in a few words, and we think it makes a thoughtful ruby anniversary present on its own, or a lovely keepsake to give alongside a card, flowers or a celebration meal. Long after the day itself, it stays out on show as a gentle reminder of the milestone.

The plaque is made from MDF with a smooth white finish, and the heart stands proud of the panel, casting a soft shadow that lets the lettering read clearly from across the room. The back is a plain brown board. To keep it looking fresh, dust it now and then with a soft dry cloth and keep it away from water and damp, as you would with any MDF piece. For a finishing touch, wrap it in red tissue to pick up the little ruby heart, or set it beside a wedding photograph on the mantelpiece.
