Description

The Knightsbridge 4-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer handles four separate lighting circuits from a single 146mm white round-edge faceplate, supporting 5-400W incandescent or 5-150W dimmable LED loads per gang. Each rotary knob provides push-on/push-off switching and continuous dimming control, with front-accessible trim adjustment and mode switching between trailing-edge and leading-edge operation to suit different lamp technologies.

Designed for residential and commercial installations where multiple lighting circuits need individual dimming control from a single wall position, the dimmer suits living rooms with separate ceiling, wall and table lamp circuits, kitchens with distinct task and ambient lighting zones, or hotel rooms with independently controlled bedside, ceiling and bathroom lighting. The 2-way capability allows the same circuits to be dimmed from a second location, paired with a compatible 2-way switch or dimmer.

The white thermoset resin faceplate carries an anti-microbial finish and a 7mm rounded edge profile that sits closer to the wall than traditional square-edge plates. The four rotary controls are recessed into the plate, with each knob labelled by circuit position. Trim adjustments on each gang allow the minimum brightness level to be set during installation, compensating for different lamp types and preventing flicker at low dim levels. The dimmer requires a 25mm minimum back box depth and fits standard UK double-gang mounting centres.

All four circuits must use dimmable lamps only. Mixing different lamp brands, wattages or technologies on the same circuit can cause flickering, buzzing or premature lamp failure. For stable performance, use matched lamps of the same make, model and wattage on each gang.

What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes?

Trailing-edge mode suits dimmable LED and CFL lamps, reducing electrical noise and flicker. Leading-edge mode suits traditional incandescent and halogen lamps. The dimmer switches between modes via front controls, allowing compatibility with different lamp technologies on each gang.

Can I use different lamp types on the four gangs?

Yes, each gang can be set to a different mode to suit the lamp type connected to that circuit. However, all lamps on the same gang (same circuit) must be identical in brand, model and wattage to avoid flickering and buzzing.

What does the trim adjustment do?

The trim control on each gang sets the minimum brightness level when the dimmer is at its lowest position. This prevents flicker at low dim levels and accommodates different lamp technologies that have varying minimum dim thresholds.

Is this compatible with non-dimmable LED bulbs?

No. Only dimmable LED, dimmable CFL, incandescent or halogen lamps should be used. Non-dimmable lamps will flicker, buzz or fail when connected to a dimmer circuit.
