Description

The Knightsbridge 4-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer controls four separate lighting zones from a single 147.5mm x 87.5mm brushed brass faceplate, handling 10-200W incandescent or halogen loads and 5-150W LED loads per gang. The dimmer switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes via a front-panel control knob, making it compatible with most dimmable lamp types without needing to access the back box wiring.

Designed for multi-zone residential lighting control in living rooms, dining rooms and master bedrooms, each gang operates independently on a push on/off, rotary dimming action. The 2-way configuration allows the same lighting circuit to be controlled from two separate switch positions — typically at opposite ends of a room or at the top and bottom of a staircase. The dimmer arrives preset in trailing-edge mode, which suits most LED and electronic transformers, but can be switched to leading-edge mode for older magnetic transformers or specific lamp compatibility.

The brushed brass finish provides a warm metallic accent on premium-grade steel construction with a 2.5mm projection from the wall once fitted to a 25mm minimum back box. Each gang includes overload and overheat protection, plus an inrush current limiter (ICL) to prevent nuisance tripping when switching on high-draw LED arrays. The front-panel trim and mode-switching knob allows the dimmer to be reset or recalibrated if lamps are changed in future without needing to pull the plate off the wall.

All four zones must use the same brand and wattage of dimmable lamps — mixing different lamp brands, wattages or types (e.g. LED with halogen) on the same dimmer will cause flicker, noise or inconsistent dimming behaviour. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations only.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes?

Trailing-edge mode suits most modern dimmable LEDs and electronic transformers — it's the preset mode on this dimmer. Leading-edge mode suits older magnetic transformers and some halogen lamps. The dimmer can be switched between modes using the front-panel control knob without rewiring.

Can I use different lamp brands on the four gangs?

No. All lamps controlled by this dimmer must be the same brand, wattage and type. Mixing different brands or wattages causes flicker, buzzing or inconsistent dimming. If you need to control different lamp types independently, use separate single-gang dimmers instead.

What does 2-way mean?

2-way means the same lighting circuit can be controlled from two separate switch positions, such as at opposite ends of a hallway or at the top and bottom of a staircase. This requires additional intermediate wiring between the two switch positions.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The 2.5mm projection of the faceplate sits flush with most plasterboard and skimmed walls once fitted.
