Description
The Knightsbridge EMSUR2 is a 3W LED non-maintained surface emergency downlight designed to activate only during mains power failure, providing 150 lumens of 5000K cool white light for up to 3 hours. The compact 110mm square white polycarbonate housing mounts directly to ceilings or walls without recessing, making it suitable for corridors, stairwells, open-plan offices and lobbies where emergency lighting compliance is required but ceiling voids are unavailable or impractical.
Supplied with interchangeable corridor and open area lenses, the fitting can be configured on site to match the geometry of the space it serves. The corridor lens concentrates light along linear paths, while the open area lens provides wider 120-degree distribution across rooms and landings. Push-fit loop-in, loop-out terminals on the back of the unit simplify wiring runs across multiple emergency fittings, and twin 20mm conduit entry points accommodate both surface and concealed cable routing.
The internal LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) battery charges continuously when mains power is present and discharges during outages. This battery chemistry offers longer cycle life and more stable discharge characteristics than older NiCd cells. The LED module is rated to L70B50 at 30,000 hours, meaning 70% of units will retain at least 70% of their initial lumen output after 30,000 hours of use. Class II double-insulated construction removes the need for earthing in most installations.

Frequently Asked
What does non-maintained mean?
Non-maintained emergency lighting operates only during mains power failure. When mains power is present, the unit remains off and the battery charges. This differs from maintained emergency lights, which stay on continuously and switch to battery backup during outages.
How long does the battery last during an outage?
The LiFePO4 battery provides 3 hours of emergency illumination at 150 lumens once mains power is lost. The battery recharges automatically when mains power is restored.
What's the difference between corridor and open area lenses?
Both lenses are supplied in the box. The corridor lens focuses light along linear paths for hallways and stairwells. The open area lens provides wider 120-degree distribution for rooms, landings and open-plan spaces. The lens can be swapped during installation to suit the location.
Is this suitable for bathrooms or outdoor use?
No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It cannot be used in bathrooms, kitchens, or any outdoor or damp environment.
