Description
The Knightsbridge PMG3 is a 3-gang grid faceplate in anthracite thermoset resin, designed to support three Curved Edge modular grid switches or sockets. The faceplate measures 146mm x 86mm with a 7mm projection from the wall, and is certified to Building Regulations Part M for accessible dwellings, providing a Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of approximately 8.9 to ensure sufficient visual contrast against lighter wall colours.
Part M requires switches and sockets to contrast visually with both the wall and the faceplate to aid identification for users with impaired vision. The anthracite finish sits between true black and dark grey, providing the recommended 30% LRV contrast when installed on standard white, cream, or light-coloured walls. The faceplate pairs with the Knightsbridge CUG2F grid frame (sold separately), which holds the individual grid modules behind the cover plate.
The thermoset resin construction carries inherent anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on the surface over time. This makes the faceplate suitable for healthcare, hospitality and residential settings where hygiene standards matter. The material is rated IP20 for indoor use and carries a 25-year manufacturer warranty. The curved-edge design softens the visual profile compared to square-edged plates, and the screw fixings are visible once installed.

Frequently Asked
What is Part M compliance and why does it matter?
Building Regulations Part M requires switches and sockets in new-build and certain retrofit projects to provide sufficient visual contrast for users with impaired vision. The anthracite finish on this faceplate has an LRV of 8.9, which contrasts by more than 30% against standard white or cream walls, meeting the regulation.
What else is needed to complete the installation?
You need one Knightsbridge CUG2F grid frame (sold separately) to mount behind this faceplate, plus up to three Curved Edge grid modules (switches, sockets, or blanks). The modules clip into the frame, and the faceplate screws over the top.
What are the anti-microbial properties?
The thermoset resin is 3rd-party tested to ISO 22196:2011, meaning it reduces bacterial growth on the surface over time. This is useful in healthcare, care homes, hospitality and family bathrooms where surfaces are touched frequently.
Can this faceplate be used outdoors?
No. The IP20 rating is for indoor use only. For outdoor or bathroom zones requiring splash protection, you need a higher IP-rated product.
