Description
The Knightsbridge 3-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer handles three separate lighting circuits from a single brushed brass faceplate, with each gang rated at 10-200W for incandescent or halogen loads and 5-150W for dimmable LED. The dimmer switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes from the front control knob, allowing compatibility with a wide range of lamp types without needing to remove the faceplate or rewire.
Designed for multi-zone lighting control in living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms, the 2-way configuration allows the same lights to be controlled from two locations (e.g. either end of a hallway or at two entrances to a room). Each gang operates independently with a push on/off action and rotary dimming via a matching brushed brass knob. The dimmer ships preset in trailing-edge mode, which suits most modern dimmable LED bulbs, and can be switched to leading-edge mode for older lamp technologies or specific fittings that require it.
The flat plate design sits just 2.5mm proud of the wall surface once fitted to a 25mm minimum back box, giving a low-profile finish that suits contemporary interiors. The premium-grade steel construction provides weight and rigidity, and the brushed brass finish softens reflections compared to polished brass while maintaining the warm metallic tone. Built-in overload and overheat protection automatically cuts power if the dimmer exceeds safe operating limits, and an inrush current limiter prevents surge damage when lamps are first switched on.
The front-panel trim control allows minimum and maximum brightness levels to be adjusted after installation, making it straightforward to fine-tune dimming range if fittings or bulbs are changed. The dimmer is rated IP20 and requires earthing, so it must be fitted by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge mode?
Trailing-edge mode is designed for dimmable LED and low-voltage electronic transformers, and is the preset mode on this dimmer. Leading-edge mode suits older incandescent, halogen and magnetic transformer loads. Most modern LED bulbs work best in trailing-edge mode, but the dimmer can be switched between modes from the front control knob if compatibility issues arise.
Can I mix different bulb types on the same gang?
No. Each gang must control lamps of the same type, brand and wattage. Mixing different bulb brands, wattages or technologies (e.g. LED and halogen together) on a single gang causes erratic dimming, flicker and can damage the dimmer or the lamps.
What does 2-way mean?
A 2-way dimmer can be wired to control the same lights from two different switch locations, such as either end of a hallway or two entrances to a room. It requires appropriate 2-way wiring between the two switch positions.
How do I adjust the minimum and maximum brightness?
The control knob on each gang can be used to trim the dimming range. Turn the knob fully anti-clockwise to set the minimum brightness level, or fully clockwise to set the maximum. Full instructions are in the specification sheet linked above.
