Description

This 3.6V 1800mAh nickel-cadmium battery is a sealed rechargeable cell designed for emergency lighting installations requiring parallel wiring. The battery pack measures 200mm long by 90mm wide by 45mm deep and connects via a standard 2-pin white connector with red (positive) and black (negative) leads. The pack is CE marked and carries the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol indicating it requires proper disposal under WEEE regulations.

The battery is wired in parallel configuration, meaning it connects to systems where the load is distributed across multiple cells or where the voltage must remain at 3.6V while the capacity needs to exceed what a single cell can provide. It's used as a replacement battery in Duceri emergency lighting fittings and similar systems that hold a backup charge to power LED or compact fluorescent emergency lamps during mains failure. The 1800mAh capacity determines how long the connected lamp will run on battery power alone.

Nickel-cadmium (NiCd) chemistry tolerates deep discharge cycles better than some other rechargeable chemistries, making it suitable for emergency lighting where the battery may sit unused for months and then be required to deliver full capacity immediately during a power cut. The sealed construction prevents electrolyte leakage and allows the battery to be mounted in any orientation within the emergency fitting. The 190g weight is typical for this capacity and chemistry.

Frequently Asked

What does parallel wiring mean for this battery?

Parallel wiring means the battery is configured to connect alongside other cells in a system where the voltage remains constant (3.6V) while the total capacity increases. It's not suitable for series installations where voltages add together. Check your emergency fitting's documentation to confirm parallel or series wiring before ordering.

How long will it power an emergency light?

The 1800mAh capacity means the battery can deliver 1.8 amps for one hour, or proportionally less current for longer. A typical 3W LED emergency lamp drawing 0.8A at 3.6V would run for approximately 2-2.5 hours on a full charge, though actual runtime depends on lamp wattage and battery condition.

Can it replace batteries in other brands of emergency lighting?

It can replace any emergency lighting battery with the same voltage (3.6V), capacity (1800mAh), parallel wiring configuration, and physical dimensions (200 x 90 x 45mm). The 2-pin connector is a standard type used across multiple brands, but verify the connector matches your fitting before installing.

How should it be disposed of?

Nickel-cadmium batteries contain heavy metals and must be disposed of through a registered WEEE recycling facility. Do not place in household waste. Most local authority recycling centres accept NiCd batteries, or return spent batteries to Niori for proper recycling.
