Description

The Knightsbridge LEDTD1 is a 24V DC touch dimmer designed for use with LED linkable flat striplights, controlling dimming across all connected strips from a single touch-sensitive surface. The unit handles a maximum combined load of 36W across the circuit and operates on 24V DC low-voltage power, requiring a separate LED driver or transformer upstream.

Designed for under-cabinet lighting, display shelving, and concealed strip installations where in-line dimming control is needed without wall-mounted dimmer switches, the unit measures 44mm x 33mm x 8mm and sits between the LED driver output and the first striplight in the chain. The touch-sensitive surface on the front panel cycles through brightness levels with each press, from full output down to approximately 10% minimum dim without flicker.

The dimmer includes a memory function that retains the last brightness setting when mains power is switched off and restores that level when power is reconnected, avoiding the need to re-adjust dimming after turning the circuit off at a wall switch. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations away from moisture. The black plastic housing sits flat against surfaces and the compact footprint allows it to be concealed behind plinths, inside cupboards or under shelving where the touch panel remains accessible.

What striplights is this compatible with?

The LEDTD1 is designed specifically for Knightsbridge's 24V DC LED linkable flat striplights. It will not work with mains-voltage LED strips or 12V DC strips. The combined wattage of all connected strips must not exceed 36W.

Does it need to be wired into the mains?

No. The dimmer operates on 24V DC and sits between the LED driver output and the striplight input. The mains-to-24V DC conversion is handled by a separate driver or transformer upstream, which is not included with the dimmer.

Can it be installed inside a cupboard?

Yes, provided the touch panel remains accessible and the location is dry. The IP20 rating means the unit is not protected against moisture, so it cannot be used in bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor locations.

Does the memory function work if the power is cut at the consumer unit?

Yes. The memory function retains the last brightness setting even when mains power is completely disconnected, so the striplight returns to the same dim level when power is restored.
