Description
The Knightsbridge GDM008BC is a 20AX double-pole key switch module with a brushed chrome faceplate, marked 'EMG LTG TEST' for emergency lighting test circuits. The module fits Knightsbridge modular grid systems and clips into position from the front of the mounting frame without requiring rear access or removal of adjacent modules.
Designed for emergency lighting test circuits in commercial, hospitality and public buildings, the key switch allows authorised personnel to trigger a mains-fail test of emergency lighting without cutting power to the building. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when operated, providing positive isolation during testing. The module ships with a removable key, preventing unauthorised operation of the test function.
The module body is moulded in ABS with steel contact internals, giving robust performance under frequent switching. The brushed chrome faceplate matches other Knightsbridge grid modules in the same finish, allowing consistent appearance across multi-gang grid plates. The 24.8mm width occupies one standard grid position, so a 2-gang grid frame can accommodate two modules or a mix of switch, socket and specialist modules alongside this key switch.
The 35mm minimum mounting box depth requirement is standard for Knightsbridge grid systems. The module projection from the grid frame is 2.5mm, with a total recessed depth of 17.3mm, making it suitable for both flush and surface-mounted grid installations where the back box or pattress provides adequate depth.

Frequently Asked
What is this module used for?
The EMG LTG TEST key switch is used to trigger manual testing of emergency lighting circuits. It allows building managers or maintenance staff to simulate a mains power failure and verify that emergency lights activate correctly, without needing to isolate power to the building.
Does the module include the mounting frame?
No. Knightsbridge grid modules require a separate mounting frame and cover plate, sold separately. Choose a frame that matches the number of modules you need to install (1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang etc.) and ensure the finish matches this brushed chrome module.
Is the key removable?
Yes. The module ships with a removable key that can be withdrawn once the switch is in the desired position. This prevents unauthorised operation of the emergency lighting test function.
What is the 20AX rating?
20AX refers to the switching capacity: 20 amps on a 230V AC circuit. This is higher than a standard 10AX light switch rating, making the module suitable for circuits controlling multiple emergency lighting units or higher-load applications.
