Description
The Knightsbridge 20AX DP key switch module provides key-operated double pole switching in a single-width Grid format. The module clips into any Knightsbridge Grid mounting frame and switches both live and neutral lines simultaneously, providing complete circuit isolation when turned off. The key is supplied with the module and can be removed once the switch is in either the on or off position, preventing unauthorised operation.
Designed for applications where circuit control needs to be restricted to authorised users, the key switch suits commercial kitchens, server rooms, plant rooms, education facilities and residential installations where specific circuits need to be lockable. The 20AX rating handles loads up to 4,600W on 230V mains, making it suitable for high-draw appliances, lighting circuits and control panel integration. The module fits a 35mm minimum back box depth and combines with other Grid modules to build custom switch plates from 1 to 6 gang configurations.
The brushed chrome faceplate has a directional grain finish that softens reflections and resists fingerprint marking compared to polished chrome. The ABS body and steel internal components provide mechanical durability, and the module carries a 25-year manufacturer guarantee. The key barrel is a standard Knightsbridge Grid system key (spare order code GDKEY), so multiple key switches across a building can share the same key if required.

Frequently Asked
What is double pole switching and why use it?
Double pole switching isolates both the live and neutral lines when the switch is turned off, providing complete circuit isolation. This is a safety requirement for certain applications including hot water systems, electric showers, and commercial equipment where disconnection from mains is needed for servicing.
Can the key be removed in both positions?
Yes. The key can be removed when the switch is in either the on or off position, allowing circuits to be locked in whichever state is required for safety or security.
What is the Knightsbridge Grid System?
The Grid System is a modular switch and socket system where individual modules (switches, sockets, USB ports, blanks) clip into separate metal mounting frames to build custom faceplates. This module is single-width and can be combined with other Grid modules in the same frame.
Are spare keys available?
Yes. Spare keys are available separately under Knightsbridge order code GDKEY. The key barrel is a standard Grid system key, so multiple key switches can share the same key if required across a building or installation.
