Description
The Knightsbridge 20A flex outlet plate provides a hard-wired connection point for fixed appliances such as water heaters, electric towel rails, wall-mounted convection heaters and central heating pumps. The smoked bronze screwless faceplate is constructed from 201 stainless steel with a dark bronze PVD coating that hides fingerprints and integrates with warm-toned metalwork and contemporary bathroom and kitchen fittings.
Designed for permanent installation rather than plug-and-socket applications, the outlet accepts cables up to 10mm diameter and features internal strain relief to prevent cable pull-out under vibration or accidental tension. Terminal capacity handles three 2.5mm² cables or two 4.0mm² cables, with twin earth terminals for multi-cable installations. The 20A rating at 230V 50Hz supports loads up to 4,600W, covering most domestic fixed appliances including 3kW instantaneous water heaters and higher-output towel radiators.
The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible fixings on the wall once installed. The faceplate sits 4.3mm proud of the wall surface, giving a low-profile finish that works in tight spaces behind radiators or alongside built-in cabinetry. The IP20 rating restricts the outlet to dry indoor locations — bathrooms require outlets to be positioned outside splash zones, typically 600mm or more from taps and showerheads.

Frequently Asked
What appliances is this outlet designed for?
The 20A rating at 230V supports loads up to 4,600W, making it suitable for hard-wired water heaters, electric towel rails, wall-mounted convection heaters, central heating pumps and other fixed appliances. It is not designed for plug-and-socket use.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
Can this be used in bathrooms?
The IP20 rating restricts the outlet to dry indoor locations. In bathrooms, it must be positioned outside splash zones — typically 600mm or more from taps, showerheads and bath edges — and must comply with BS 7671 wiring regulations for bathroom zones.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the outlet and re-clipped without re-wiring.
