Description
The Knightsbridge 2-gang surface mounting box is a grey polycarbonate enclosure measuring 152.5mm wide by 92.5mm high, with a 32mm internal depth for housing wiring behind 2-gang switches, sockets, or data outlets. The box mounts directly to a finished wall surface where flush back boxes cannot be fitted, providing a quick installation option for retrofits, temporary wiring, or surface-run installations in commercial and residential settings.
Designed to pair with Knightsbridge's screwless and flat plate ranges, the box accepts standard 2-gang faceplates and provides fixing points for the cover plate screws. The 32mm depth accommodates twin-and-earth cable terminations with sufficient clearance behind the faceplate for switches rated up to 10AX or 13A sockets without cable compression. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor locations including offices, workshops, retail units and domestic rooms where surface wiring is acceptable or required.
The polycarbonate construction resists impact and UV discolouration better than ABS alternatives, while the light grey finish blends with standard interior wall colours and reduces visual prominence compared to white boxes on darker walls. The box ships without an earth terminal, relying on the metal faceplate and fixing screws to provide earthing continuity where required by the installation. Knightsbridge backs the box with a 25-year warranty against material and manufacturing defects.

Frequently Asked
What accessories is this box compatible with?
The box accepts any standard 2-gang faceplate from Knightsbridge's screwless and flat plate ranges, including switches, sockets, dimmer switches, data outlets and blanking plates. The fixing centres match standard UK wiring accessory spacing.
Does the box include an earth terminal?
No. Earthing continuity is provided through the metal faceplate and fixing screws where a metal accessory is fitted. For plastic faceplates or where a dedicated earth terminal is required, specify a different box model.
What wall projection does the box add?
The box projects 34mm from the wall surface. When a screwless faceplate is added, total projection is typically 40-44mm depending on the specific faceplate design.
Can the box be used outdoors?
No. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor locations only. For outdoor or damp locations, specify a weatherproof enclosure with a higher IP rating such as IP65 or IP66.
