Description

This Knightsbridge 1m Cat6 UTP cable connects network devices with standard RJ45 plugs at both ends, supporting gigabit speeds up to 1000Mbps and 10GbE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) standards. The cable uses unshielded twisted pair (UTP) construction with CCA (copper-clad aluminium) conductors and carries an IP20 rating for indoor use only.

Designed for home and office networking, the 1m length suits desk-level connections between PCs, laptops, consoles, Smart TVs and nearby routers, switches or wall sockets. The RJ45 plugs feature over-moulded strain relief and a snagless boot design, which protects the locking tab from snagging on neighbouring cables or rack edges during installation and removal.

The black PVC outer jacket provides a neutral finish that blends into most networking setups without drawing attention. At 1m the cable is short enough to avoid excess slack on desks and in patch panels, while still allowing some routing flexibility around furniture or equipment. The minimal bend radius maintained by the strain relief helps prevent kinking during installation in tighter cable runs.

Frequently Asked

What speeds does Cat6 support?

Cat6 cables support standard Ethernet (10Mbps), Fast Ethernet (100Mbps), Gigabit Ethernet (1000Mbps), and 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) over short runs. The actual speed depends on the network hardware at both ends of the connection.

What does UTP mean?

UTP stands for Unshielded Twisted Pair. The cable contains twisted pairs of copper-clad aluminium wire without additional shielding, making it suitable for typical home and office environments where electromagnetic interference is minimal.

What is the snagless boot for?

The snagless boot protects the RJ45 locking tab from catching on adjacent cables, equipment edges or rack frames when the cable is plugged in or removed. This reduces the risk of breaking the tab, which would prevent the plug from locking securely into a socket.

Can this be used outdoors?

No. The IP20 rating indicates the cable is designed for indoor use only. Outdoor networking requires cables with higher IP ratings and UV-resistant jackets to withstand moisture and sunlight exposure.
