Description

The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur combines a fused connection unit, rocker switch, neon indicator and flex outlet behind a brushed brass flat plate with an ultra-low 2.5mm profile. The unit provides switched, fused control for fixed appliances such as boilers, water heaters, extractor fans and kitchen appliances that require permanent hard-wired connection rather than plug-and-socket installation.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation where fixed appliances need local isolation, the fused spur fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and accepts a BS 1362 13A cartridge fuse in the matching brushed brass fuse holder. The neon indicator glows red when the switch is in the on position, providing clear visual confirmation of power status from across a room. The flex outlet aperture at the base of the plate allows cable entry where surface-run flex needs to connect to the spur without requiring a separate grommet or plate modification.

The brushed brass finish provides a warm metallic accent that pairs well with traditional, classical and warm contemporary interiors. The flat plate construction uses premium-grade steel with a built-in rear gasket that sits flush to the wall surface, concealing the back box edge and giving a cleaner finish than deeper raised plates. Certified to BS 1363-4 and backed by a 25-year warranty, the unit carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor installation only.

The 13A rating suits fixed appliances up to 3,120W including boilers, water heaters, bathroom extractor fans, kitchen waste disposal units and under-cabinet lighting transformers. The unit provides local isolation without requiring the appliance to have its own plug and socket.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The 2.5mm flat plate projection means the total wall projection is approximately 28mm once fitted.

What does the flex outlet do?

The flex outlet aperture at the base of the plate allows surface-run cable to enter the back box where the appliance flex cannot be concealed within the wall. This avoids having to drill a separate cable entry hole or use a larger plate with grommet.

Can the neon indicator be switched off independently?

No. The neon indicator illuminates automatically when the rocker switch is in the on position and the circuit is live. It provides visual confirmation of power status and cannot be disabled separately from the switch function.
