Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang SP switched socket adds one USB-A and one USB-C fast-charge port behind a matt black screwless faceplate with a black insert. The dual USB configuration delivers up to 18W when a single port is in use, or 20W shared (5V DC, 4.0A total) when both ports charge simultaneously. The single-pole switch isolates the live conductor when off, suitable for standard residential loads up to 2,990W.
Designed for residential, office and hospitality installation, the socket fits a 35mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate steel sub-frame. The USB-C port supports PD (Power Delivery) and QC (Quick Charge) protocols, allowing compatible smartphones and tablets to reach 0-50% charge in approximately 30 minutes. Adaptive charging automatically adjusts voltage to match each connected device, and built-in overload, overheat and over-current protection prevents damage to both the socket and connected equipment.
The matt black finish provides a low-sheen surface that minimises fingerprint visibility and pairs cleanly with contemporary, industrial and monochrome interiors. The black insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to each outlet and USB aperture. The socket carries Over Voltage Category III approval for use in fixed installations and draws 0.1W on standby. A 10mm spacer is included for mounting flexibility in back boxes of varying depth.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
A 35mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. A 10mm spacer is included to accommodate mounting variation in deeper back boxes. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
What is the USB charging output?
The socket delivers up to 18W when only one USB port is in use, or 20W shared (5V DC, 4.0A total) when both ports charge simultaneously. The USB-C port supports PD and QC fast-charge protocols for compatible devices.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate steel sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring.
Does charging slow down as the battery fills?
Yes. Fast-charge protocols automatically reduce charging speed once a device reaches approximately 70% capacity to protect battery longevity. This is standard behaviour across PD and QC charging and is not specific to this socket.
